三螺桿泵是依靠泵體與螺桿所形成，當(dāng)主動(dòng)螺桿轉(zhuǎn)動(dòng)時(shí)，帶動(dòng)與其嚙合的從動(dòng)螺桿一起轉(zhuǎn)動(dòng)，吸入腔一端的螺桿嚙合空間容積逐漸增大，壓力降低。
液體在壓差作用下進(jìn)入嚙合空間容積。當(dāng)容積增至*而形成一個(gè)密封腔時(shí)，液體就在一個(gè)個(gè)密封腔內(nèi)連續(xù)地沿軸向移動(dòng)，直至排出腔一端。這時(shí)排出腔一端的螺桿嚙合空間容積逐漸縮小，而將液體排出。三螺桿泵的工作原理與齒輪泵相似，只是在結(jié)構(gòu)上用螺桿取代了齒輪。表為各種螺桿泵的特點(diǎn)和應(yīng)用范圍。三螺桿泵的流量和壓力脈沖很小，噪聲和振動(dòng)小，有自吸能力，但螺桿加工較困難。泵有單吸式和雙吸式兩種結(jié)構(gòu),但單螺桿泵僅有單吸式。三螺桿泵必須配帶安全閥(單螺桿泵不必配帶），以防止由于某種原因如排出管堵塞使泵的出口壓力超過容許值而損壞泵或原動(dòng)機(jī)。

三螺桿泵是利用螺桿的回轉(zhuǎn)來吸排液體的。中間螺桿為主動(dòng)螺桿，由原動(dòng)機(jī)帶動(dòng)回轉(zhuǎn)，兩邊的螺桿為從動(dòng)螺桿，隨主動(dòng)螺桿作反向旋轉(zhuǎn)。主、從動(dòng)螺 桿的螺紋均為雙頭螺紋。
三螺桿泵是螺桿式式容積泵。在三螺矸泵中，由于主螺桿與從動(dòng)螺桿上螺旋槽相互嚙合及它們與襯套三孔內(nèi)表面的配合，得以在泵的與出口之間形成數(shù)級(jí)動(dòng)密封室，這些動(dòng)密封室將不斷把液體由泵軸向移動(dòng)到泵出 口，并使所輸送液體逐級(jí)升壓。從而形成一個(gè)連續(xù)、平穩(wěn)、軸向移動(dòng)的壓力液體。三螺桿泵所輸送液體為不含固體顆粒，無腐蝕性油類及類似油的潤滑性液體，粘度1.2~100oE(3.0~760cst)，高粘度液體亦可通過加溫降粘后輸送，其溫度不超過150oC。

The pump has two types of single suction and double suction, but the single screw pump has only one suction type. The triple screw pump must be equipped with a safety valve (a single screw pump does not have to be equipped) to prevent the pump or the prime mover from being damaged due to some cause, such as the discharge pipe clogging, causing the outlet pressure of the pump to exceed the allowable value.

The three-screw pump uses the rotation of the screw to suck and discharge the liquid. The middle screw is the active screw, which is driven by the prime mover. The screw on both sides is the driven screw and rotates in reverse with the active screw. The threads of the main and follower screws are double-ended threads.
The triple screw pump is a screw type positive displacement pump. In the three-screw pump, due to the mutual engagement of the spiral grooves on the main screw and the driven screw and their cooperation with the inner surfaces of the three holes of the bushing, several dynamic seal chambers can be formed between the inlet and the outlet of the pump. The chamber will continue to move the liquid axially from the pump inlet to the pump outlet and step up the delivered liquid. This creates a continuous, smooth, axially moving pressure fluid. The liquid delivered by the three-screw pump is a lubricity liquid free of solid particles, non-corrosive oils, and the like. The viscosity is 1.2 to 100oE (3.0 to 760 cst).
